Jesus as Your Role Model: Following His Example of Love and Service
Jesus Christ, the central figure of Christianity, is often looked upon as a perfect example of love, humility, and service to others. His teachings continue to inspire millions around the world, providing guidance for leading a meaningful and fulfilling life. The Parable of the Good Samaritan

In this story, a man asks Jesus how he may inherit eternal life. Jesus responds by quoting the commandments and then asking him which is the greatest. The man answers correctly that it is to love God with all one’s heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself. To illustrate this point further, Jesus tells the parable of a traveler who is attacked by robbers and left for dead.
A priest and a Levite both come across the man but pass by, likely due to fear or not wanting to get involved in what they perceived as a dangerous situation. However, a Samaritan, who was an outcast among the Jews at that time, stops and helps the man, paying for his care and even carrying him to an inn. Jesus then asks which of the three was a neighbor to the man in need. The man who was helped responds, “The one who showed me mercy.” And Jesus concludes, “Go and do likewise.”
Loving Your Neighbor as Yourself
Jesus’ teachings on loving your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39) are not limited to the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Throughout the Gospels, we see Him demonstrate this love time and time again. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and ministered to those on the margins of society – lepers, the blind, the deaf, the poor.
Jesus’ love extended beyond just physical acts of service. He also showed compassion and understanding for people’s emotional and spiritual needs. For example, when a woman caught in adultery was brought before Him (John 8:1-11), instead of condemning her, He forgave her and told her to sin no more.
Humility and Service

Throughout the Gospels, we see Him washing the feet of His disciples (John 13:1-20), an act typically reserved for servants. He also instructed them to be like little children, emphasizing their humility and dependence on God.

By giving up His life, He showed the ultimate act of love and service to humanity.
